Central Bank of Uzbekistan records 27% increase in remittances from EU and 62% from UK

In the first half of 2026, total remittances to Uzbekistan reached $9.3 billion, up 13% year-on-year, with inflows from EU countries rising 27% to $319 million and from the UK surging 62% to $144 million.

The Central Bank attributes the growth to the diversification of labor migration destinations and steady demand for labor in developed economies. Remittances from the US rose 19% to $372 million, from South Korea 13.5% to $314 million, and from Turkey 13.9% to $303 million. More than half of the inflows ($4.8 billion) move through direct P2P transfers, which grew 32% year-on-year.
