According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan’s Telegram channel, the regulator is exploring the potential of a wholesale central bank digital currency (wCBDC).
The Central Bank is analyzing how wCBDC could be used in interbank settlements, tokenized capital market transactions, and cross-border payments.
Planned studies and a pilot project are expected to determine whether there is a need to implement a wholesale central bank digital currency in Uzbekistan.
