Uzbek banks issued 18.3 trillion UZS in mortgage loans in January–August 2026, up 4.9 trillion UZS from the same period in 2025.
Nearly 60,000 borrowers secured mortgages, averaging 309 million UZS per person. Interest rates varied by funding source: loans financed through the national budget carried a 16.9% rate, those through the Mortgage Refinancing Company stood at 21.6%, and banks’ own funded loans averaged 20.7%.
Tashkent led in lending with 5.59 trillion UZS, or almost a third of the total volume. Andijan region followed with 1.6 trillion UZS, Kashkadarya with 1.3 trillion, and Fergana with 1.26 trillion. Syrdarya region received the lowest share at 497 billion UZS.
Primary market purchases accounted for 74% of the loans, while 26% went toward the secondary market. Most borrowers (64%) were aged 31 to 50, and 26% were between 18 and 30 years old.
