Uzbek fintech Click has added a new feature to its auto-payment service — mobile balance auto-replenishment upon reaching a set threshold. Now users can configure two types of auto-payments: scheduled and event-based.
What changed
Event-based auto-payment works for three mobile operators in Uzbekistan. Beeline subscribers can connect up to 5 numbers, Ucell users choose a trigger threshold of $1 or $0.10, and UzMobile clients set thresholds from 5,000 to 50,000 soums.
Top-up amounts are fixed: 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, or 50,000 soums. The daily limit is 50,000 soums. The user receives an SMS notification about each auto-payment.
Scheduled auto-payment allows paying for any services of Click partners monthly or weekly. Available options are: on the last day of the month, on a specified day of the month, or weekly.
Auto-payments can be configured via the *880# USSD menu or the Click Evolution mobile app. To create an event-based auto-payment, you need to select the “Avtoplatej” item, specify the number, and set the top-up amount.
The Uzbek context
In Uzbekistan, mobile payments remain the primary method of digital settlements for the majority of the population. Click holds leading positions in the e-wallet market and is actively developing an ecosystem around everyday payments.
Auto-payments are particularly relevant in conditions where users often forget to top up their mobile phone balance. For many Uzbekistanis, mobile communication is the main way to access the internet and digital services.
Why it matters
The development of auto-payments shows how Uzbek fintechs are transitioning from one-off transactions to habit creation. Automatic payments increase the frequency of service usage and retain users within the Click ecosystem.
Such products create a sticky effect: the more auto-payments a user has set up, the harder it is for them to switch to competitors. This is especially important in the growing Uzbek market, where banks and fintechs are actively fighting for clients.
What is next
Click plans to expand event-based auto-payments to other mobile operators. Currently, the service only works with the three largest ones — Beeline, Ucell, and UzMobile, but the company is negotiating with the remaining market players.
The development of automatic payments could become a trend for other Uzbek fintechs. Such services help increase retention and create a more predictable transaction flow.
