According to spot.uz, businesses at a meeting with exporters on September 29 proposed reducing the fee for cash deposits via online ATMs, which currently stands at 1% of the amount.
Sherzod Kholmatov, director of Izobubble, said clients refuse to deposit cash through ATMs because of the fee. On a deposit of 200 million soums, banks charge a 2 million soum fee. Kholmatov suggested revising the tariff, pointing out that banks do not incur significant costs for self-service transactions.
Abror Mirzo Olimov, deputy chairman of the Central Bank, noted that the regulator cannot set fee amounts for commercial banks. According to him, banks factor in maintenance, rent, ATM delivery, cash collection, and electricity when pricing services. Olimov allowed for the possibility of fee optimization, but said making the service free would likely not work, promising to submit a proposal for an optimization option.
