In August 2026, Kazakhstani banks issued new loans to SMEs whose volume grew by 47.3% year-on-year, according to the Agency for Regulation and Business Financing.
Total new lending to businesses in August reached 2.1 trillion tenge, up 26.2% compared to August 2025. The expansion was driven mainly by a 47.3% surge in lending to SMEs and a 21.0% increase for large enterprises.
The SME loan portfolio has grown by 2.6% to 7.9 trillion tenge since the start of 2026. Total corporate and retail lending across second-tier banks reached 42.8 trillion tenge, rising 1.7% over August.
