As of August 1, 2026, retail term deposits in Kazakhstan’s banks increased by 20% year-on-year, reaching 26.8 trillion tenge, up 4.5 trillion tenge from a year earlier.
Bank RBK posted the highest growth, with term deposits jumping 47.8% to 797.9 billion tenge. Freedom Bank ranked second with a 46.2% increase, followed by ForteBank with a 38.2% rise. The top five also included Otbasy Bank and Home Credit Bank, which grew 23.7% each.
Across the market, 11 of Kazakhstan’s 21 commercial banks showed positive annual dynamics. Term deposit balances declined at six financial institutions, two new banks lacked comparable data, and two foreign banks held no retail term deposits due to their business focus.
Over the past five years, retail term deposits more than doubled, increasing by an average of 21.1% per year. Over a ten-year horizon, the total volume quadrupled.
