The Smart Data Finance system gathers information on citizens’ real estate, cars, and other assets from 80 sources to detect mismatches between declared income and spending.
Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Finance Asset Turysov reported the details. The platform aggregates data on real estate, vehicles, land plots, and other assets, though information on mobile transfers is restricted by banking secrecy and is not fully visible.
Tax authorities compare an individual’s official income with their spending. If a significant discrepancy is uncovered—such as someone with no official income purchasing a house or several cars—tax authorities may request clarification. When major mismatches are identified, citizens and businesses can submit additional information through a dedicated service, after which the data is reviewed and any required taxes must be paid.
