Rocket Tech conducted a study on the behavior of Kazakhstani users in banking apps. The results were published in the form of a dashboard and analytical materials.
What Happened
Rocket Tech conducted a series of in-depth interviews with Kazakhstanis and studied how they interact with services inside banking apps.
The study showed:
- what users lack to stay with one bank and not switch to competitors
- what moments cause maximum irritation leading to closing the app
- which services are the most promising, and which are overestimated by development teams
The results are compiled in a dashboard and are available at tech.rocketfirm.com/kzbanking-ecosystems-2026.
Country and Market
More than 20 banks operate in Kazakhstan, most of which are developing their own ecosystems. The largest players — Kaspi Bank, Halyk Bank, ForteBank — offer users dozens of services from payments to marketplaces.
At the same time, Kazakhstani users actively switch between banks and often use the apps of several banks simultaneously.
Why It Matters
Data on real user behavior helps banks understand which products truly retain customers and which only create an illusion of engagement.
The main signal here is that banks may overestimate the success of their ecosystems without understanding the real needs of users. The study can show the gap between bank strategies and customer expectations.
What’s Next
The study may influence the product strategies of Kazakhstani banks. This especially concerns the prioritization of services within ecosystems and work with user experience.
It is worth watching how banks will use this data in the development of their products.
