In the second quarter of 2026, Kazakhstani banks recorded growing loan demand from large and medium-sized businesses, the National Bank reported based on a survey of lending institutions.
The number of loan applications from medium-sized businesses increased by 4% quarter-on-quarter to 5.3 thousand, with the average size rising by 3% to 927 million tenge. Demand from small and micro-enterprises remained stable: application volumes slipped 1% to 904 thousand, while the average size fell 8% to 22.8 million tenge. The approval rate for large business loans rose by 10 percentage points to 65%, for medium-sized firms it edged up 2 points to 39%, and for small businesses it dropped 1 point to 33%.
