National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Puts 20- and 50-Som Banknotes into Circulation

Starting October 27, 2026, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic is putting into circulation new 2026-series 20- and 50-som banknotes, produced in Kyrgyzstan for the first time.

The banknotes were printed by the limited liability company Central Asian Security Printing House. The design of the new banknotes maintains continuity with the current fifth series: portraits of historical figures on the obverse and historical cultural landmarks on the reverse, with the dimensions and color schemes remaining unchanged.

The security features meet modern international standards of the banknote industry and include a watermark, a security thread, a see-through register, tactile elements, a latent image, an iridescent stripe, and microtext. All national currency banknotes hold official legal tender status within the Kyrgyz Republic and must be accepted regardless of their year of issue.
