Kazakhstan’s Halyk Bank has scrapped bonus accruals for card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay payments, now awarding bonuses exclusively for QR-code payments made via the bank’s app.
The bank introduced this measure following the rollout of a unified national payment QR standard in July. According to a source, Halyk is trying this approach to defend transaction volumes across its own POS terminals.
