Humo Bank ceases card services for Russian clients

Tajikistan’s Humo Bank has notified Russian clients that it will stop servicing their cards on October 1 unless they undergo biometric identification at a bank branch by September 30.

The bank asked clients who opened accounts online to visit one of its branches with their passports for verification. Citing fraud protection, the lender stated it decided to restrict services for certain categories of non-resident individuals whose cards were issued remotely. Those who complete the in-person identification in Tajikistan can be issued a new card with a validity of up to one year.

In addition, starting September 17, 2026, the bank prohibited opening new “Sarchashma” deposits in Russian rubles, while all other terms of the program remain unchanged.
