Kazakhstanis own 1 million crypto wallets abroad

Experts estimate that Kazakhstanis own 1 million crypto wallets worldwide, mostly on foreign platforms outside AIFC regulation. Yerkegali Yedenbayev, Managing Director of the Authorization and Financial Technologies Office at the AIFC Committee, stated that the regulator aims to bring these clients into a licensed environment. Currently, five international crypto platforms are undergoing licensing at the AIFC, two of which rank among the top ten largest crypto exchanges in the world. On platforms already operating under AIFC regulation — Binance, Bybit, BigOne, and WhiteBit — trading volume reached $10.5 billion last year, and the number of clients grew from 53,000 in 2023 to 270,000.
