Kazakhstanis shift funds into term and savings deposits

In 2025, retail deposits in Kazakhstan exceeded 28 trillion tenge, rising by 14.7%, as Kazakhstanis increasingly shifted money into term deposits, which surged more than 14-fold, and savings deposits, up 1.5 times.

National currency deposits were the main growth driver, expanding by 18.9%, while foreign currency deposits rose by just 1.8%, pushing deposit dollarization down to 21.9%. Meanwhile, the volume of non-term deposits contracted by 4.1%. According to the Kazakhstan Deposit Insurance Fund, term and savings deposits accounted for 13.2 percentage points of the total 14.7% deposit market growth.
