Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Labor has unveiled a service to voluntarily opt out of state benefits, with plans to integrate it into the eGov Mobile app. Following an SMS notification campaign, more than 200 citizens have already declined state support.
The service will be embedded in the eGov Mobile app, allowing well-off citizens to waive social benefits online without visiting government offices.
According to the government, after the SMS alerts were sent, more than 200 citizens opted out of state aid. At the same time, authorities reassessed 66 social support measures provided by regional and municipal administrations (akimats). Based on the review, 38 overlapping central and local measures were streamlined, while the remaining 28 were consolidated into 13 core areas.
A unified digital platform tracks the entire process from application to payout, monitoring beneficiary numbers, demand for social support measures, and local budget expenditures. The ministry has also set up a working group to advise local authorities on changes to the benefit assignment process.
