Combined net profit of Kazakhstan’s banks fell by 16% or 269 billion tenge year-on-year to 1.398 trillion tenge in January–July 2026, marking the sharpest contraction since 2019.
The metric has been sliding since January, following a multi-year effort by the National Bank and the ARDFM to curb consumer lending to fight inflation. The profit decline hit nearly every bank in the sector. The National Bank will release detailed statistics for individual financial institutions at the end of the month.
