KASE expands Islamic screening list to include foreign equities

The Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), together with fintech company Ailat, has added 32 foreign equities traded on NASDAQ and NYSE to its Islamic screening service, including Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Alphabet, Tesla, Meta Platforms, Coca-Cola, and Chevron.

KASE and Ailat launched the online screening service in September 2026. The evaluation runs in three stages: automated calculation of financial metrics using artificial intelligence, expert review, and a final ruling by the Supervisory Board for compliance with AAOIFI standards.

The methodology evaluates a company’s revenue sources, the share of income from activities that fall outside established ethical criteria, debt levels, and the proportion of cash and interest-bearing financial instruments in total assets. The screening results are useful not only for investors adhering to Islamic finance principles, but also for anyone seeking a closer look at an issuer’s business model and financial structure.
