Halyk Bank has announced the closure of more than 35,000 current accounts belonging to sole proprietors and legal entities that have shown no activity for over a year.
The bank published a masked list of 35,454 accounts displaying partial account details. The closure affects only business current accounts with no money movement for more than one year; individual accounts are not affected. A single client may hold multiple accounts on the list.
To keep an account open, a client must submit an application to lift the dormant status within 10 business days via the Onlinebank app or at a bank branch. The bank cites the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Rules for Opening, Maintaining, and Closing Bank Accounts No. 207, dated August 31, 2016.
