Bank CenterCredit, in partnership with Visa, has implemented Click to Pay technology—the first among Kazakhstani banks. The service allows users to pay for online purchases without entering card details on every website.
What happened
The technology eliminates the need for users to enter their card number, expiration date, and CVV code every time they make online purchases. To pay, it is enough to specify the linked phone number and select a card from the list.
It is already possible to pay using the new method on the websites of major international brands: Marriott, Lufthansa, and Emirates. The connection of existing cards to the system is happening in stages, and settings can be managed through the bcc.kz mobile app.
Country and market
Click to Pay is an international EMVCo standard for simplifying online payments. Globally, the technology is supported by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Bank CenterCredit is one of the largest private banks in Kazakhstan with assets exceeding 3 trillion tenge.
Why it matters
This is the first experience of implementing Click to Pay for the Kazakhstani market. The technology can increase the conversion rate of online payments: users often abandon purchases due to the lengthy entry of card details.
The main signal here is that Kazakhstani banks are beginning to implement international standards to improve the user experience in e-commerce.
What’s next
It will be interesting to see how quickly other Kazakhstani banks connect to Click to Pay and whether the list of supported merchants among local online stores will expand.
