According to ranking.kz, total assets in Kazakhstan’s banking sector reached 75.6 trillion tenge by August 1, 2026, up 6.9% since the beginning of the year.
The top ten banks hold 89% of these assets, totaling 67.1 trillion tenge and marking a 6.2% increase year-to-date.
Otbasy Bank led the top 10 in growth rate, expanding its assets by 16.8% to 6.1 trillion tenge. The bank’s loan portfolio reached 4.6 trillion tenge, up 13.4%. Its share of non-performing loans (NPL 90+) stood at 0.1%, compared to the sector average of 4.12%. Freedom Bank ranked second with a 14.9% increase to 3 trillion tenge, followed by Kaspi Bank with an 11.1% gain to 10.5 trillion tenge.
Year-on-year, banking sector assets expanded by 16.2%, and have grown 2.2-fold over the past five years.
